Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Property Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting, and supporting key business decisions through financial analysis.
In this role, you will:
- Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial and residential properties, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close;
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including variance analysis and reporting insights;
- Oversee tenant accounting, including rent rolls, recoveries, and CAM and realty tax reconciliations;
- Interpret lease agreements to ensure accurate billing, escalations, and recoverable expenses;
- Manage intercompany transactions and ensure accurate cost allocation across entities;
- Partner with internal teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities;
- Liaise with external auditors and support year-end audit requirements;
- Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of accounting systems, processes, and controls.
Requested skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field;
- 5+ years of property accounting experience;
- Strong knowledge of commercial leases, CAM reconciliations, and tenant recoveries;
- Experience preparing financial statements and variance analyses;
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting systems.
