Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Property Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting, and supporting key business decisions through financial analysis.

In this role, you will:

• Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial and residential properties, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close;
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including variance analysis and reporting insights;
• Oversee tenant accounting, including rent rolls, recoveries, and CAM and realty tax reconciliations;
• Interpret lease agreements to ensure accurate billing, escalations, and recoverable expenses;
• Manage intercompany transactions and ensure accurate cost allocation across entities;
• Partner with internal teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities;
• Liaise with external auditors and support year-end audit requirements;
• Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of accounting systems, processes, and controls.

Requested skills

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of property accounting experience, with exposure to commercial real estate
• Strong knowledge of commercial leases, CAM reconciliations, and tenant recoveries
• Experience preparing financial statements and variance analyses
• Knowledge of accounting standards (ASPE)
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting systems
